NY SAFE act

Does anyone have any knowledge about whether the KRISS fulfills the "banned" criteria in the NY SAFE act? Specifically, the law says that any "rifle" with a detachable magazine that has a "protruding pistol grip" qualifies. They give diagrams for examples. Technically, one could argue the KRISS grip does not "protrude". The law also contains a list of specific banned firearms and does not include the KRISS. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have no doubt that a NY resident would have trouble purchasing a KRISS in NY. My question is more focused on current NY owners of a KRISS. We have to register our AR-15 and AK-47 because they fulfill specific "banned" criteria. It's a grandfathering process really. So, I'm really trying to determine whether a KRISS that is legally owned in NY needs to be registered? I apologize that it's so confusing to explain. That's because it's so confusing to understand. Stupid state!

Just like the folks next door in CT, I wouldn't register anything I already own that was legal before this travesty. There are several challenges working through the courts now, and hopefully in a few years those responsible will be voted out of office. Then the SAFE act goes away, but I guarantee you those registrations would still be on file somewhere.  ;)

As a former NY resident, with a Vector. I experienced NY life pre-NY Safe Act and After.

Technically the KRISS Vector is an assault weapon. When I moved to NY, I thought I could keep the folding stock. Cause like you, I dont consider the grip to "protrude conspicuously BELOW the action of the weapon" Since the action of the weapon is in front of the grip.

I have had discussions with NY State Police regarding this. Does ANY part of the grip exist below the action? Yes like the bottom half technically is lower than the bolt. Then it is below the action.

The biggest problem is what will a lawyer do in court? What will the layman think when shown a picture of a Vector? They will assume it is a pistol grip.

If the Vector didnt have a pistol grip, then KRISS USA would not need to fix the stock. They even fix the length of pull adjustment. It is all about covering your ass.
