Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
So I noticed Chung's later model KRISS has problems keeping the bolt open on the last round. Mine does it sometimes but I'm not sure why. I don't know if it is a user issue or something else.
Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
it was great meeting up with you today. i'm all hot for an optics setup now. lol
i have been looking into optics.
here are my choices:
acog 4x32
aimpoint patrolman with magnifier
eotech with magnifier the smaller version
all three setups are going to cost at least 1k.
i have no idea what's going to be better for me.
i would like to get one set up that i can use for the kriss, ump and ar15.
have to do some research but until you actually use it, it will be a leap of faith.
i'm leaning toward the eotech with magnifier because i like the circle with dot opposed to just a red dot.
cheers,
cl

Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
The problem I see Chung, is the UMP. It might be possible to use the same setup for the AR and KRISS. Although KRISS USA says that the iron sights of the KRISS is not the same as an AR it is pretty close. But trying your UMP, the sights do not line up at all. So unless you buy three sets of optics for each weapon. I would get one dedicated set for the UMP and look into a set that you can swap back and forth between the KRISS and your AR.
Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
there is never one setup that does it all. i will get an acog for the ar and a setup for the kriss and then figure out what to do with the ump. but i will get the acog second and see if the eotech magnification will give me enough magnification for the ar outdoors at a 100 yards.

Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
Chung, If you get your Aimpoint set up in time, I recommend you come out to my club's High Power match. It is slow long range fire at the 200yd range. We have steel poppers too that are like the size of a meerkat. Those are REALLY hard to hit. But it is fun and you can test your battle zero. If you zero the AR at 50 it should, in theory, be zeroed out at 200 yd as well.
Also March 11 is when we do our action match. Moving and shooting. Bring your Kriss out and come out to play. You can use one of my mag pouches if you need it. As well as my mags. As you know, NY has mag limits. So 30 rd KRISS mags are a no go unless you have pre-ban. But the important thing is to play with the KRISS on a course and really test drive it hehe.

mine holds open with the glock 13 rounders, havent tried the extended glock mags. bolt doesnt stay open on KCI korean mags, but does feed them with no problems so I dont really mind.

It did the same thing for my GF, on mine. It's because your thumb is tapping the bolt release when firing thus preventing it from staying open. I caught her doing it and once she moved her thumb away it was fine.

Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
I dont think that is the problem.
1. Chung uses a vertical grip so his thumb is no where near the bolt catch.
2. It might be the spring in my extended mag. I started to count how many times my bolt doesnt stay open and I think it only does it with my extended mag. It may be one of the reasons why KRISS USA switched to a beefier mag spring.

Try just cycling it by hand and see what happens. I had the problem where it would lock back, but as soon as I dropped the mag the bolt would slam forward. Pretty sure they had to replace my bolt catch.
Either way, I would just contact them. As you and I both know, they're customer service is pretty good.

Yeah. Im waiting for a lull and I can send out the gun between competitions. I rather keep playing than miss a match while the gun is in the shop.

Might be worth it to take a loot at a aimpoint micro. I'm using one with a KAC mount and love it because the mount lets you switch between whatever co-witness you want.

Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
The mount comes with different spacers that allow you to raise and lower the optic. Other reasons I like it... the mount has more points of contact with the rail than something like a larue, and has a screw on the side that allows you to tighten it down. So you can close the throw lever and then crank it down with a flat head if you want. Makes it easier to get it on and off while keeping it really secure to the rail.

Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
After some thinking about the problem. I may have narrowed down the problem.
I circled the piece of metal in the picture. That piece is pushed up my the mag follower. If that piece of metal isnt pushed up, then the bolt catch doesnt stay open.

Re: Bolt doesn't stay open after last round
dang clean your rifle
so do all your mags keep it open or closed or does it happen all the time

Yeah Yeah yeah I will clean it. It was just something i thought about recently as I was trying to wrap my head around "Why cant the Vector spit out live rounds"
