Just got back from the range shooting my KRISS. First off, these should only be made in a SBR with a suppressor... absolutely amazing. Secondly, I noticed mine will not extract a live round whatsoever, it just sits on top of the mag instead of flying out. I tried hand cycling two 30round mags and every single one did this. I've always known they wouldn't extract reliably, but not at all is something new to me

So my question is, how many of your guys guns will extract a live round? Be safe trying it out...

ok first of all, let's clarify some vocabulary.

My Vector extracts every round. Fired or unfired 100% of the time.

But it only EJECTS the fired casings. It does not eject unfired or fail to fire rounds.

I had a talk to a gun guru buddy of mine. He thinks due to the design of the Super V system, the short stroke and redirection of the bolt does not allow for ejecting live rds. However glocks and HK UMPs can do it just fine.

No one likes the internet grammar police...

What actually prevents extraction of a live round: (both from silencertalk)

Update on my Kriss.

Had problems with extracting and unfired round and failure to feed.
Sent it back to the factory and was told they fixed the feeding issue but the gun was not designed to extract an unfired round without removing the magazine. It will occasionally extract the unfired round but not reliably.

I kid you not.

Spoke with the chief engineer and gunsmith.
When I asked why every other modern firearm does this and theirs doesn't the response was that it is a revolutionary design and then a long pause....
When pressed the gunsmith said that they have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours trying to remedy this issue but the gun is what it is.

I actually like the way the gun looks and shoots but to me this a liability if the gun was ever to be used for home defense or even for competition shooting

"If you are looking at the bolt face the extractor is in the 10/11 o'clock position and has no lip on the opposite side to keep the rim from slipping off the bolt face.
So the bolt has nothing to push the case up against except the next round in the mag, which means it is essentially unsupported and subject to all possible mag and ammo variables.

So when you load a mag and cycle the action the best I can get is somewhere around 60% extraction rate EXCEPT the last round which flips out 100%.

The review issue is easy: nobody who writes in gun mags says that a gun is a dog whether it is or not. They would quickly be out of a job.

Yes, TDI does know this is an issue and I was told on a conference call by their chief engineer and master gunsmith(Charlie Martz) that the cost of a redesign is too costly and will NOT be done. Charlie is a good guy but has to work with what he's got.

When firing the gun extraction is very good but if you drop the hammer on a dud then it becomes a club so you have to transition to a secondary or do the mag dance. No immediate action drill.

I would wager that no law enforcement or government agency is using this weapon.

This gun is quickly being relegated to the back of my safe

Im not quite sure i understand the mag issue with regards to ejection. I will have to try last round and see if I can replicate 100% ejection on last round.

One way to do this would also be to roll the gun over and let the round drop out of the ejection port. I have done both; mag dance and rolling. I treat it as any normal malfunction.

If you have a FTF what are the steps you would do for an AR? Sure strip the round out and load another. If not, you have to rip the mag out, rack a cpuple times and load a fresh mag. Seems like the same dance regardless it is the KRISS.

If you practice the failure then you can get proficient and it isnt a real hassle.

I can get my friend's to eject live rounds every time if I roll it to the right, tip the barrel up slightly and rack the handle- doesn't have to be super hard or fast, but you have to rack it with authority.

The roll and tip makes it easier to access the handle anyways.

His is a 1000 S/N range gun- early internals.

Sorry to respond to an old post, but I thought your video on your malfunctions was really good; showed exactly what you're talking about here.

I just went through TWO mags of fresh rounds and I was able to get every sibgle live round out by pulling the bolt back. All of them came popping out... is this what you mean?

I'll try to post up a video tonight. I mean it ran flawlessly. *insert mag, drop bolt, rip back, watch round fly out, rip, fly. Rip, fly
