DIY SBR on eBay
I saw this on ebay. Auction ended with no bids.
Starting bid was $200. No buyers.
From the description it is a cut down Carbine barrel. The lobe is where the shroud would have mounted.

Listed for a Kriss Super V . IT is used and has a round count less than 50 .It has been cut to 7 inches .
Cut and thread to make SBR . All NFA rules apply. Thanks for looking and have a great day.
Paypal only ....... Ships only to the lower 48 ......

I saw this too, even went as far as asking if he will ship to ny. His reply was "I can ship to ny, all nfa rules apply". Two things stopped me from bidding the first being I don't know how hard it is to remove the barrel and what tools I would need. The other reason is I'm scared ATF would ve hand delivered me the barrel along with a set of steel bracelets

Im not sure how you would swap it...from what Ive been told by kriss and buddy, your average joe cannot swap barrels in his house shop. And Ive broken my kriss down as far as the armorers course shows you, any more past that and Im pretty sure youll need a machinist. But idk i could be wrong, somebodys obviously experimented with it.

It's pretty easy at least looking at the exploded views in the armorers manual. There are two plates that sandwich the trunion.
Re: DIY SBR on eBay
I would glady pay for the tax stamp to sbr my kriss but it's nearly impossible to get the paperwork signed here in ny. I think my next purchase will be a kriss pistol

Pretty sure you can only have a SBR in NY if you're a LEO. If so, just get a trust and avoid the signature.
If i had seen that on ebay, I totally would have bought it haha. It's perfectly legal to buy short barrels, I've bought a couple for my builds. Never heard of an ATF accompanying the package.
Good catch on ebay Solscud!

Word of caution. I think it is technically illegal to have the short barrel and the Vector in the same house. Prior to form 1 approval. It is deemed "intent to construct". Now you can have the short barrel legally if you don't own a Vector.

I am LEO and I still can't get an sbr tax stamp that's how much ny sucks. How can I get a trust? Do u just hire a lawyer and let them draw up the paperwork? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Lawyers around here wanted $600 for a trust. So I just made one with quicken and had one of the "NFA Lawyers" amend it to the "NFA language" for $200. Truthfully, I don't really think you NEED a NFA specific trust. Looking at the differences between a quicken trust and a NFA trust, there's not much that makes it special. But hey, what ever helps you sleep at night.

Re: DIY SBR on eBay
yea thats as far as ive taken mine down. the two plates are not held together by screws, i forget what you call them, but they are like pressed in pins, removing them would be a task in itself let alone replacing them. Ive had two gunsmiths look at it and neither would touch it.Solscud007 wrote:It's pretty easy at least looking at the exploded views in the armorers manual. Interesting. Well there must be a way. I doubt KRISS USA is going to bother machining the barrel down for SBR. Much easier to swap out the barrel. But since I cant have SBR, no sense in thinking about it.

This site should be able to put you in touch with somebody who deals with NY: http://www.guntrustlawyer.com/smurf24k wrote:I am LEO and I still can't get an sbr tax stamp that's how much ny sucks. Various bits of interesting NFA trust info (with a Texas focus): http://www.texasnfatrust.com/
*Disclaimer: I have not worked with either of these folks. The "NFA trust" line item is still on my "bucket list".

I wasn't a fan of Goldman, he was slow to get back to me if he ever did. So I went to Chris Bass, great dude and was incredibly quick. Can message him at BigCBass on AR15.com.
I'm sure Sean Cody from texasnfatrust.com would be a good choice also. He's been around for a long time.

Re: DIY SBR on eBay
Yea Ive talked to buddy about this extensively. If you get your carbine SBR'd most of the cost for the swap is a new barrel. Kriss wont cut and thread your existing barrel. Kriss does not manufacturer the barrels either. I asked buddy if the company that manufacturers the barrels would cut and thread and he said no, once that barrel is pressed into the trunion its in there. Its POSSIBLE for it to be removed, but the chance of it being damaged in the removal is so likely that KRISS or the barrel company wont even attempt to remove it. Now getting the barrel and trunion un-sandwiched from the two lowers they do, but its still kinda tricky. Ive been trying to get my 16" threaded for months now. Every idea has been out the window.Solscud007 wrote:Interesting. Well there must be a way. I doubt KRISS USA is going to bother machining the barrel down for SBR. Much easier to swap out the barrel. Re: DIY SBR on eBay
I thought about it. I know their waiting list is crazy right now. I actually talked to sarge on FNF for advice, after looking at it he said he could do it but in material and being such a tricky process it would cost around $600 (mostly material) All in all I would just swap my carbine for a SDP and be done with it. I dont think I could send anything else to the ATF after my 30 cal can. According to latest statistics from the last 6 months, at the current NFA waiting trend, every 3 days that passes it adds 1 day of waiting to your approval.
