Got a new EOTech EXPS3-4!
Got my EOTech. It's an EXPS3-4. It's intended mostly for use on the Kriss Vector, but I could throw it on the SCAR or whatever else I get in the future easily since it has a QR 1913 rail mounting system.
Box it came in, and extra free goodies Optics Planet sent along: A EOTech boonie hat, and a sticker. Nice thing is, the price was the same as elsewhere.
Left side of sight. The on/off/intensity buttons can be see, as well as the NV button, which is only useful to me if someone sends me some NVGs. ;-)
Right side. Windage and elevation adjustments, and the battery compartment cap can be seen.
View through the sight. No offense to Australia! ;-) This is relatively close to the sight, and the reticle is relatively small.
View through the sight. No offense to Australia! ;-) This is backed away from the sight which shows the "infinite" eye relief feature of the sight. The farther away your eye is from the sight, the bigger the reticle gets in the sight. Another feature of a holographic sight is that your eye doesn't need to be lined up with the reticle. Once the sight is zeroed, as long as you can see the reticle, this shows where the shot will hit.
Bottom of sight with QR locking lever open.

Very nice. It looks similar to my friend's CQB XPS2 T dot. He won it in a raffle at the FNH 3 Gun match we staffed at.

I put it on my KRISS and immediately noticed that this Eotech sits much higher. The co-witness is lower 1/3. I prefer my 512 where it is a full co-witness.
Did you notice that with your new sight?

I put my EXPS2 in the exact place that you have yours. I works flawlessly.

Yep. The sights with the QD latches sit a bit higher I think. The 512 mounts with a knob, so it sits a bit lower. I guess it's the price you pay for having a quick release lever. The iron sights do sit lower in the window, but it still looks like you can use them with the EOTech mounted. But worse comes to worse, you can throw off the EOTech faster than you can flip up the irons anyway.Solscud007 wrote:Very nice. It looks similar to my friend's CQB XPS2 T dot. Yeh I'm still not settled on whether I want mine close to the rear sight or all the way up front. If I get the 3X magnifier it'll have to be up front of course. But the farther up front it is, the bigger the reticle is in the window, which I kind of like.Antrax wrote:I put my EXPS2 in the exact place that you have yours. I works flawlessly.

Actually the reticle is the same size. But the window looks smaller the further you move it forward. Larue and gg&g make thro levers for the 512

I have a 5x magnifier and it works right there. I will play with the position next time I take it to the range.

Re: Got a new EOTech EXPS3-4!
I finally got to the range w/ the Vector and the EXPS3-4.
Awesome sight once I got it zeroed in.
At first I tried zeroing using the center dot when the target was about 10 yds or so away. After cranking a few turns of up elevation on it, I remembered from reading the instructions that at close range you're supposed to aim using the bottom of the ring, not the center dot.
So I rezeroed using that at close range, and the center dot at the max range of the aisle, which was about 25 yds. At that point it was hitting where I pointed it.
This is the first time I used an EOTech, and I was very please with how fast you coudl transition from target to target with it. I stuck five 5" diameter shoot-n-c targets on a normal paper target and was able to flick across and get good center ring hits on each one with each shot. Fast acquisition is definitely the forte of the EOTech.
Follow up shots were also really nice compared with the iron sights. IMHO, the perfect sight for the Vector, or probably any CQB rifle.

Re: Got a new EOTech EXPS3-4!
Yep. I love mine. I might get one for my Scar17 now.
I zeroed my Scar at 200 yds with the Eotech. The 12 o'clock position of the Eotech lines up with my SCAR 17 Irons. So I used the 12 o'clock as my point of aim at 200 yds. Dialed it in and set the front sight to the eotech.
Here is a video I took while testing my zero at Westpoint.

Yeh I actually watched that vid when I saw it posted on the FN Forums. :-)
EOTechs are awesome CQB and perhaps even medium range sights, but I think the a .308 battle rifle like the SCAR 17 deserves at least 6X magnification.
I've been eyeing the Horus Blackbird 2 1.5-8X ... Seems like the perfect match for the capabilities of the SCAR. Basically a red dot at low mag, and the Horus reticle at long ranges. But I also like the Elcan Specter DR 1.5-6X. So still undecided.
