30 rd. Mag issues.
Hello everyone.
I have the semi carbine model Kriss. It runs like a champ except for one issue that keeps occurring.
When I use the 30 rd. (g-21 w/adapter) it doesn't seem to want to lock in place, or just barely locks in then drops out after 1st or second shot.
i've tried 4 different 30 rd. mags and they all do the same thing. But when I put a standard 13 rd mag It locks in solid and no feed issues.
Even when I broke it down to clean I tried the 30rd mag then and it still wouldn't seem to lock in place.
Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: 30 rd. Mag issues.
My guess from just a firearms experience point of view would be weak spring... Too much weight. Try loading a single round at a time in a thirty, insert the mag and see if it stays put. If it does with one round, add another, rinse repeat until you find out how many it takes to replicate.

Thought that as well. Tried an empty mag. Same issue

It might help to ID the mags you are having issues with.

The 13 rd mags you say work, so they still work if you install the extension on them? Are the extended faulty mags the same as the 13 rd? They might be a different generation.

they are the postban gen 4 mags (far right on pic). I swapped a working mag and saw same issue the second I put the extension on.

Re: 30 rd. Mag issues.
I am at a loss here. is anyone else having any sort of issue like this, or did I score the lottery?
just working with it now, i noticed that i can work a 13rd. mag out, but it takes effort and ive never had an issue wit the 13rd mags dropping out.
the mags are empty and when I put them in a Glock 21 with or without extension they are in nice and solid.
the only thing I can see is there is a little bit of raised plactic above the mag release inside the magwell. I seriously doubt its the problem, but I dont see anything else that it could be.

Re: 30 rd. Mag issues.
Perhaps you did not install the mag extension properly? It sounds as if the mag catch is not engaging with the mag. If you take that same Gen4 mag and convert it back into a std 13 rd mag will it work?
If so, I seems when the extension is installed, the mag is bottoming out sooner than it should.

Re: 30 rd. Mag issues.
its not that, im noticing the top of the retention slot on 2 of the mags are gouged up. So on a whim got a brand new 13 rd. mag and put it in. no problems. them threw adapter on as well and still ok. it seems those mags are the problem, but what concerns me is the mags were used in the vector only, hopefully the mag release isnt chewing up the retention slots. guess its something ill have to keep an eye on.
I emailed Nick at Kriss-usa for any insight, but havent heard back from him yet im sure because of the holidays he's playing catch-up.
regardless, I guess Ill just keep an eye on those mags hope its not a bigger underlying problem.
