My new Magpul Shotgun.
Picked up a new shotgun today to be my competition shotgun. H&R Pardner pump. It is a clone of the remington 870. I was told that Remington is the parent company for them.
It is compatible with 870 parts so I immediately installed my Magpul furniture. It is 5+1 which causes a bit of a problem regarding barrels.
I want to get a remington bbl for it so I can put chokes on it. I think the cost of tapping for a choke would cost about as much as a new bbl from remington. From the parts list I can get the ATACS camo bbl for only $150!
Here is a pic.

It's a Norinco shotgun
I've been looking at some Benelli shotguns myself lately....

Sort of. Norinco made a clone. But this is made by a company owned by Remington. But similar to the Norinco.
Re: My new Magpul Shotgun.
i used benelli supernova in competition today, it's 10+1, did pretty good with it, watching the guys with semi autos though, so much faster, came home, looked up benelli M4 semi auto...$2000...pumps cool.

Depending on the comp, sometimes you can only load up to 9rds. Which makes my KSG superfluous. Also the KSG is slow to reload.
I'm debating if I should get a 5rd extension and make this a 10+1. Or just get a 3rd extension and make it 8+1.
Got pics of your super nova? How long is the barrel?
Re: My new Magpul Shotgun.
Nih- how about a Saiga-12?

Re: My new Magpul Shotgun.
saigas jam allot from what i've seen of them so i stay away from it.
i could have got a KSG a few times now but passed, 16" barrel i assume it would make the spread larger so harder to knock down targets farther out, maybe shoot like 3" #4 or something and you get enough power behind it. not sure on that though, never shot one. If KSG was semi auto I'd probably try to get it pregnant.
comp on saturday we shot steal poppers and some clays in a stand, the comp i did last fall we actually shot skeet in a stage. round counts sat i think 2 stages were hit/miss so no 2nd try at target, 2 stages were hit till it falls (timed) so those 2 stages the more the shotgun holds the better. i didn't have any problem obliterating everything i shot at with supernova, its just pump/bang/pump/bang/pump/bang...semi guys get up, bang/bang/bang/bang done, seemed faster.
here is super nova 12 ga, 10+1 2 3/4" shells. i shot 2 3/4 #7 in comp, worked out fine. 26" barrel.
also these are nice for reloading in competition. i had one of these on sat, i'll probably get a 2nd here shortly. i also have 6 round stretchy sleeve thing on the stock.

Re: My new Magpul Shotgun.
Yeah I use shell caddies too. 6 rd shell caddies.
KSG has a 18.5" barrel. Shotguns are required to a minimum of 18.5" it is Rifles that have a minimum of 16".
Im getting mine back, hopefully with a choke adapter, havent gotten confirmation from Keltec about that. They upgraded it with factory FDE parts.

Re: My new Magpul Shotgun.
Slight update. Saw this on my Magpul Dynamics Shotgun blu-ray and decided to replicate it. As part of my prize for participating in the FNH 3Gun competition, last Sept, I got a two sell belt caddie. I have used it twice in sporting clays and find it useless. If I am going to load two rounds I may as well draw from my dump pouch or 6 shell caddie.
In the Magpul video, they show shotguns with a two shell caddie affixed to the side of the shotgun foregrip. It was an easy task to drill a hole and use a spare screw and threaded plate from one of my magpul rails I had lying around.
Now I have two more shells on my gun. The purpose of this is you want to do a slug change over or you have one more shot you need to take. You roll pump the grip back, opening the chamber/ejection port and roll the gun to the left so the ejection port is facing up. Then you just reach for the shell, pull it out and drop it into the ejection port. Slide the pump forward and roll the gun up and shoot.

Re: My new Magpul Shotgun.
nice enginuity (spelling), i always assumed those 2 rd holders were for over/under, how tight are the shells in there? not going to pop out when you rack the slide with some vengence?
what about one handed movie style shotgun vertical slam pump with cold stare?
i ordered this Franchi Affinity today...should have it in 2 wks. I couldn't sleep thinking about how much faster the semi-autos were in competition.

Re: My new Magpul Shotgun.
Pretty sweet. Yeah Semis are fast. But I like good ol pumps. The competitions that I play in, usually take pumps into consideration and are scored separately.
In terms of the two shell caddy, It depends on the shell. There are variances in tolerances. Would I rack the shotgun like Sarah Connor in T2? Probably not haha. I am looking to put more agressive hand stops on the bottom of the foregrip so I can rack off a leg or hard corner for one hand manipulation.

What did you end up having to pay for the KSG?

Yeah it was pricey but in reality I spend $500. I had a custom toy that was sitting in a display case. I came to the realization that it just sits there and I don't enjoy it anymore. So I sold it to a friend for $1000. I didn't lose any money. So all I had to do was cough up $500 for the KSG.
Another issue for me was the wait time. I felt it was worth shooting my KSG for a year and enjoying every moment of it. Than merely saving myself $700 and wait for god knows how long.
If I had waited, could I find a KSG for retail? Lucky for me not really given gun trends now. Lets say I was able to find a KSG in a year. That means I spent $700 more than retail. That is about $60 a month to have it a year earlier. Well worth the price. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would pay $60 a month to have a KsG now.
However these were compromises I was comfortable with. Good luck finding one at retail. There are stories of people finding them so the odds are better than the lottery, but not by much haha.
