Quick release fittings

Being cheap you usually find ways around costly items sometimes. Kriss has a quick release slingmount pin for $37.95
+ S/H, part number NTGPN-X002.

Using the sling attachment at the folding stock pivot on my CBR is not good enough for me.

My gun hangs down too far, so I move the sling point more to center of gravity using a quick
disconnect fitting. It still allows the gun to point down, but keeping it high enough off the
ground. The retail fittings are too expensive for me, and I go my merry little way and make
my own.

This is my answer for a quick disconnect, cost about $20.00 or less and can make two.

Parts
-------------
- Uncle Mike's Quick Detachable 100 Push Button Sling Swivels - B000MF7O2A (2 pack)

- Get m7x1.0 X 40mm long or longer hex head bolt and a m7 nut.
(Not a standard metric bolt, You'll find them in the specialty fittings area at local hardware store.)

- Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242

Tools
-------------
- Hacksaw
- Flat File
- (1) 6.1mm or 15/64" drill bit
- m7X1.0 tap and tap handle
- Hand drill
- Bench Vise

To Begin-------------
1. Drill out bottom of quick disconnect cup with a 6.1mm or 15/64" drill bit. Use m7X1.0 tap to thread hole you just drilled.
* (To make it easier to drill use several small diameter bits one at a time to lead up to the final drilling. Taking too big of a
bite in the metal can be disasterous.)

2. If bolt is too long put a m7 nut on it and apply a single wrap of masking tape. Measure to 40mm from shoulder of bolt
and mark on tape. Cut it too long and quick disconnect won't fit into cup or too short and you won't have enough
threads to secure it properly.
* (The nut helps stabilize the bolt in a vise when cutting and helps clean the threads when you remove it.)
* (The tape gives you a good visible mark where to cut the bolt.)

3. Cut bolt to length and use file to make a slight bevel to clean edges of the threads just cut and remove tape. Remove
nut to assist in straightening the threads.

4. Now place bolt threads first into a drill chuck and tighten. Placing a file at a roughly 45 degree angle turn on drill and file
down the bottom edge of the shoulder of the m7 bolt as shown in the picture.

5. Now remove the retainer pin shown and insert the bolt in the opposite side of where you desire to hang your gun from as
shown. Place a dap of locktite thread compound on threads of m7 bolt and thread the quick disconnect cup on to the bolt.
Hand tighten the cup to the gun body and let dry before use. Looking into the cup you should have about 1mm of the bolt
sticking into the cup. You do not need to use tools to tighten the cup, over tighten as you may effect the trigger mechanism
operation or possibly crack the body.

When loctite has cured attach your sling, adjust accordingly and enjoy.
Unfortunately, I cannot show you how it hangs because for some reason I seem to have lost my sling, damn.....

This is how it looks depending on the side you mount it.

Umm, the only problem I see is that you might not want to loctite it cause it will inhibit disassembly.
