Future SDP Owner from SC
After reading all the reviews I could find about the KRISS weapons - the good and the bad - I purchased an SDP. It's on backorder so should take about 6-8 weeks to get, and I plan on then getting it converted to an SBR. Why? I'm a military science fiction writer and am taking a close look at all the most recent advances in small arms tech to try and see how future advances and/or applications might look on the battlefield or in use by operators.
Hopefully this summer I'll have a review out that looks at far future applications.

Hi tburger
Did you receive your SDP yet ? I'm from SC myself, I've been waiting on my SBR since January to be shipped to my dealer.

I just got it and have fired it only once so far; shot 30 rounds straight out of the box and worked like a charm.

Did you order it from kriss through FFL Dealers , If so how long did it take to arrive ? Just trying to establish a timeline to see how long my wait will be !

Re: Future SDP Owner from SC
I'm curious what you have gleaned from the Kriss with regards to military scifi writing.
The problem I see with a majority of weapon/prop designers in Hollywood scifi movies is that they have little to NO concept of firearms. Of course they go for looks rather than function.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of scifi guns and there are many that look awesome. Aliens Pulse rifle, Zorg ZF-1, Blade Runner pistol, etc.
But the new movie Elysium stars Marc Walbeg. In the trailer he is using a modified AK style weapon. But his laser module and reflex sight is so high above the bore axis that it can't possibly be useful. Another poor attempt to make something flashy than functional.

^ Just roll with it my friend! If you try to make sense out of movie guns, you'll just get a headache!
(Speaking of which, did you see Adam Savage's video about his Blade Runner Gun collection? )
Related to that, when Lord of the Rings was being filmed, Viggo was working on a sword fight with the late, great Bob Anderson. He asked Bob why they were doing a certain combination, instead of doing it "this" way because "this" way would be so much more effective in the fight. Bob replied, "Of course it would my boy, but this is the movies!" ;)

No I haven't seen Adam's video. He looks like a cool guy to be friends with.
You should check out Weapon Masters on Netflix. Vigo talks about Bob and the rediscovery of true combat fencing.
