Gen 2 sig brace sbx15
I finally got all the parts in to add the sig brace to my vector. My ultimate home defense weapon is complete. There really is nothing like 30 rounds of suppressed 45 acp that has less recoil than 9mm. I had to add the buffer tube adapter from Kriss and went with the hex 2 buffer tube from phase 5 that was specifically develop for the sig brace giving me a perfect length of pull. Getting everything installed wasn't that hard but patients is need to prevent marring.
Here is a shot of just the buffer tube.
I have been debating adding the the diamond head rail. It would give me a longer sight radius but I would need to move the flash light out of the sight receptacle.
Like this.
I can add a vertical grip because of its overall length now but because of its almost non existint recoil I doubt it will happen.
Thoughts?

I use vert grips on all my SBR's and full size weapons (the one in the picture above is mine) not because of recoil but it allows you the ability to "drive" the front of the weapon. When your hand is far forward you are able to make minute aiming corrections. When your hand is back on or close to the mag well very small movements are amplified at the muzzle end creating over-correction. With the Diamond Handguard I could get my bare hand way out there but because of the suppressor it gets very hot. A vert grip helps you avoid the heat. Watch any of the competition guys that are fast and accurate, they all drive the front of their weapon. I am now seeing that technique taught to many LEO's.

Do you shoot with gloves? I understand the point of driving your weapon forward, but that could be done with just the rail or a simple hand stop. If the heat is really that bad then I might go with a vertical grip.

You would still have a problem installing a vert grip on your rig. Even though the overall length is greater than 26" with the arm brace it is still classified as a" pistol" (that's why you don't have to SBR it) and therefore you cannot add a vert grip without a tax stamp.

I have been scratching my head about the whole is it a pistol or a firearm thing. I guess I could write the ATF but don't want to poke the bear with the amount of sig brace questions they have been getting. I think I will just go with an angled grip. I would SBR it but would rather not have to use a registered SBR in a home defense situation and have it go into lock up.

Is this accurate? I thought that the over-all length needs to be 26 inches AND the barrel length needs to be 16 inches to be a rifle. In other words: A pistol with a long overall length (26") doesn't make a rifle unless the barrel is also (16"). Consequently, this would mean you would be installing a vertical fore grip on a pistol which would make it an Article II weapon regulated by the ATF NFA Branch. This statement is in regards to the pistol with the SBX15 installed (not the SBR pic obviously).
I may have misunderstood what you meant. Apologies if I am wrong.

It would be classified not as a rifle but as a firearm. I still don't know if it would qualify as a firearm or a pistol so I have stayed away from the VFG. Similar to the franklin armory xo26, it has a 11.5 barrel with a VFG and is not an AOW because it's overall length is 26".

Hah, thanks for the info and link. I knew I may have been missing something. At first glance it seemed wrong but thanks for clarifying. I can see why you hesitate to put a VFG on it though. So is correct me if I am wrong: If it has the VFG installed= You can't say it is a rifle (because the barrel is short). You can't say it is a pistol (because it has the VFG). You can't say its an AOW (Form 1 required). You also can't say it is an SBR (Form 1 required).
LOL.

Correct, it would need to be classified as other, and firearm.

Re: Gen 2 sig brace sbx15
So does anyone know what buffer tube brings the overall length of the kriss SDP to 26" so we can use a VFG?

Re: Gen 2 sig brace sbx15
It falls short. The SDP is 16" out of the box. The Adapter is approximately 1.5" (maybe 2") in length, and a standard Milspec buffer tube is about 7.25" long. That brings your total length with the brace to 24.75". So no, it will not meet the requirement to allow a VFG.
Have you looked at the Fortis Mfg Shift AFG Aluminum Picatinny Short Angled Forend Grip?

Should fit perfectly on the lower rail given it's short length.

Re: Gen 2 sig brace sbx15
I have found a 9" tube that's made for the brace... and I found that folding adapter that should add another inch to it. My concern was that even if that adapter is an extra 1.5" you have to thread the tube into it at least an inch so we get 16+1.5+8(since an inch is inside the other part[no jokes]) = 25.5", now if the stock adapter is 2" then we should be golden, if it is not then we could add that $20 folding stock adapter to get the last .5" out of it. Or back the tube out .5"
And that grip is awesome! No I hadn't seen it.
