Installation of E1B Light Empty Installation of E1B Light

Has anyone installed the Surefire E1B light kit recently. I tried and cannot get the pressure pad thru either opening. The opening is .220 x .875 and the pressure pad is .280 x 2.750. When you put the pad thru the 1.00 diameter there is not enough room to attempt to put the pad into the slots. I have poised the question to Daniel at Kriss this afternoon. Just wanted to see if anyone has encountered this issue

Did you put the velcro on the pad before sliding it thru the slot? I had issues as well. I just took a sharp knife and widened the slot. Later I switched to the SR-07 tape switch. It clamps onto the side rail and has a clicky button as well as a pressure pad. I had to drill a hole into the plastic to allow the plug to fit thru the slot. You can see it in my picture at the top of the page, next to KRISSTALK logo.

No, I did not put the Velcro on firs Sad t, the pad is just to be to thick and long to be installed without altering the slot. Today I am going to take some more measurements and draw the whole thing up in Solid Works. I did see the hole you drilled in yours, I could feed the ferrule that goes on to the tail cap of the light thru the hole and make the installation that way. I just don't feel right about paying $1,900 for the gun and $300.00 for the light and have to start hacking away to make things fit. One would think that their engineers whirl have seen this interference and made a change to incorp the light. Anyway, thanks for your feedback.

Hey Joe,

sadly the KRISS is not to your expectations. Price usually demands expectations but the KRISS is a small company. This is their first product. While I love my KRISS vector, im not a fan of the company. They have many issues they need to sort out and they are just slow at doing so. They have terrible customer relations (KRISS USA employees on the other hand are very helpful) but the people in charge are just slow.

Shotshow 2011 I commented on the fact that have the KRISS vector but there is very little information about it. Which is why i started to document my experiences on facebook. Simple things like updates and various new products were just not present on their own website.

You would have to call them directly or find out information from third party sites.

It was rather poor information management. But they said they were working on it. It took them a YEAR to get a facebook page. And now they are revamping their website. WTF have they been doing this whole time? Really? A year to get a facebook page up?

Anyway I find that I just forget KRISS and either adapt myself to the weapon system or make something work for the system.

Like my AFG mod and magpul speed plates.

joe if you are versed in solidworks, I have a project for you. Will send you a PM.

Yes, the gun is unassembled on my bench now. I looked at another forum members photo and it looked like he put a hole at the stock end of the opening. This would allow the light tail cap ferrule to go inside and thru the light receptacle. I am waiting to near back from Kriss regarding issue. I just fired off an e-mail to Evan McNamera, Marketing VP. Hey I don't mind altering to gun to fit a light that they say is especially made to fit the Kriss. I wonder what the modification would do to my warranty. We will see.

Hmmm, Solscud007 had a specific need to alter his upper to take his non-standard switch. The pic below is what I'm using (w/out metal clip or thumb switch attached of course). Is this what you have? Same pressure switch or perhaps a "newer" production run than what is shown?

I have the E1B already attached to the SF adapter and then I slide that entire unit into the upper's light receptacle... fishing the pressure switch out the ejection port side of the upper while separated. With what you have, if the same as above, I'm not understanding why the ferrule is a problem on the "stock" E1B kit to bring it in through the front. The upper receptacle light is a gaping hole. scratch

The thin slot at the top of the upper is only for squeezing the pressure switch through and a bit of the cable, as seen here:

Got pictures today from Kriss. The instructions in the Baxter agree with what you said, but it don't happen. Their new instruction e-mailed today show them inserting the pad from underneath the slot area on an angle and work it thru. This works. Inserting from the "gaping hole" doesn't do it. Not enough of diameter to make the swing to angle the pad outwards. This light kit is 110 lumens, not 90 lumens as stated in their store. It's possible during the upgrade of the light Surefire changed the pad. Anyway it's together and working. I did mark up the instructions that came with the light, copied it as as PDF file and sent it to Kriss.

Hi Joe,
Glad to hear the light went in without having to modify the Vector at all! I do have an early run Vector and it sounds like there may be some subtle differences. Could be in both the E1B/switch and the upper. I'm interested in your PDF of instructions and pictures KRISS sent. I'll PM you my email address if you could please send them along to me. Smile

One thing my previous reply wasn't real clear on is that I insert the whole unit from the front... BUT... I fish the pressure switch from the front through the side slot at an angle, working it from the bottom and with slack in the wire, BEFORE fully inserting the light into the final position. It's probably easier to video than to type up the description.

I posted this in another thread about a DIY E1B light package, but here is an old instruction sheet from the TDI days:

Joe, I'm still interested in whatever instructions the KRISS USA folks sent you (and your comments) that you mentioned above. Very Happy

It sounds like Joe inserts the pressure pad thru the bottom of the upper rather than thru the hole in the front.

This is an alternative less expensive option, if you don't want to glue velcro (self adhesive) to your Kriss and no need to take anything off or modify to make it fit.
Grip with integrated switch (good rating, easy install and affordable).

Light for the above.

*forgot to mention this foregrip set up is quick release/detach, so you can pull the grip off the Kriss quickly and use it with other weapons or by itself (versatility).
