Anyone remove the top picatinny rail?
I am getting my gun ready to SBR. I would like to remove the threaded block for the SDP rear block off plate. I read somewhere you had to remove the top rail to get it out. Anyone tried to remove it? Wondering how hard it.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Anyone remove the top picatinny rail?
I did it to change the California stock to a folding stock. I saw the Pdf from the Kriss website.
If you are removing the end but and replacing it with the folding stock, first you have to remove the folding stock pin. The easiest way for me was to use a drill and drill it from the top. It took a couple of minites. You remove the end butt and you can see the allen screw that hold then button, remove it. Now you need to remove the nut from inside the upper part of the Kriss. Now you just have to remove the screw from the light dust cap. Then remove the small pin in the anterior area of the rail. I used a small piece of wood and give it a few light taps until I had enough space to take the nut cap. I used a small punch and just push the nut up and the plastic cap came loose. Then I just put everything back.
By the way, Kriss sent me a new folding stock pin to replace the screwed one.

How did you contact Kriss and what did you tell them to receive a new folding stock assy? I need to do the same thing. Every number I call goes to a voice mail and my emails get no response. Thanks!

My guns dealer contact them. It took 3 or 4 days and a couple of calls for them to answer. I got the California CRB with the fix stock, so I only needed the button and a new take down pin.

Re: Anyone remove the top picatinny rail?
I removed my top rail. IT was easy, all it took was a little common sense and a small punch and allen wrench. I had to remove the nut inside my SDP to prepare for a buttstock install.
Remove the two small hex screws on the front of the rail, drive out the small roll pin and slide the rail forward.
See attached pic for the answers to your questions.

Stock Removal and Stock butt adjustment
Guys, thanks for all the help. I got this done in no time with the help of your pics, PDF's and links. As far as getting ahold of Kriss for the order I just called their # (757) 821-1089 and asked to order a folding stock. It came in the mail in about a week. Still trying to post a before and after pic, but no luck.
