Hey, that's great! Interested to see where you did the engraving. Can you post a picture of that?

Well it looks like it back fired on me. I have been to 3 engravers and none of them are willing to do it. My plan was to do it like another member on here but none of the local shops think they can do it in this location. not sure what to do from here.

I won't laugh at anything at this point !!!!! I just want it done and done right. I will see if there is one around me. Did they by chance do a Vector for you? All 3 locals have done tons of AR engraving but looked at me weird when I handed them the Vector. They were unable to get it in their vise or jig or whatever it is they use and said because it was in a recess they could not get the angles they needed to do it by hand.

Nope not yet on the vector but as soon as it comes in (hopefully within next 4-5 weeks) ill be taking to my guy at my local things remembered The way their jig is set up I don't think it will be an issue clamping it down.

Just called 3 Things Remembered within driving distance and all told me that their corporate policy will not allow them to engrave ANY firearm. This is getting aggravating.

Sorry to hear. I just made friends with the dude a couple years ago, who is now a manager actually and he was always happy to help me out. Does it right there in the store in front of me. Just had one done this past weekend.

Look into that further. I nearly went with laser but it dosent really go too deep. Make sure it compiles

Met with a gentleman today that has both laser and CNC machines. He advised to CNC and said he will have no problem doing it. He took measurements and will call me when everything is ready to get it done.

I'm not familiar with the NFA rules, but do they specify anything about the engraving being "partially obstructed" or required visibility? For example, I'm pretty sure you could not have the engraving under the front grip of a SBS. (ie, you'd have to remove the grip to see it.)
I just hope there isn't an issue with yours being "covered" by the bolt handle like that. ;)

I think I am just going to have a window cut and engrave the metal. I don't want to have there be any question. better safe than sorry right.

Re: Finally !!!!! SDP to SBR
My local trophy shop just clamps them down , I havent had a Kriss done but I showed the guy a pic and he said no problem , they can either laser engrave it or or do it regular , I always have mine done regular because of the min depth issue , with laser there is a possibility of min depth requirement if you paint the engraving . Im trying to figure out where to engrave my MP5K pdw on the receiver when the stamp / paperwork comes back . Since I cannot take claim to it til my stamp comes back it makes it hard to take the receiver some where to have it done ahead of time when I dont have it .

I believe those lanes are 15 yds. I was short on time today but will see what it does at 25 and 50 next time out. This was unsupported using my own handloads. Pretty happy with this set up.
