.45 ACP book review Empty .45 ACP book review

Since the KRISS Vector is chambered in .45 ACP I thought others on the site might be interested in a book I recently read. I have been reloading .45 ACP for a while for my handguns and recently came across what is probably the definitive book on the .45 ACP round. Check out the Gun Digest Big Fat Book of the .45 ACP by Patrick Sweeny. You can find it on Amazon and elsewhere, and if you are a fan of the round or want to know more than your average shooter knows about it, get the book.

The book was first published in 2009 and Sweeny gives a sampling of handguns and rifles that use the round (even a few paragraphs on the Kriss Vector). Most of the book covers technical details about the round, including history, development, the case, bullet, primer and powder. I think this kind of information is interesting, and Sweeny's style is entertaining. It's generally well written, but I agree with some of the reviews on Amazon that the editing was weak.

Near the end of the book Sweeny covers the .45 ACP in self defense and competition (pistol). The competition chapter covers the basic pistol shooting competitions like IDPA and ISPC. The self defense chapter has good advice on the legal implication of using a firearm.

I bought this book to read on my Kindle for $9.99. It was money well spent.
