For all Reloaders (.45acp reloadable bullets in stock)
I reload and have had trouble finding ammo and reloading supplies lately. I usually load berrys mfg 230gr .45 copper jacketed bullet $70 per 500 count, but they have stopped accepting orders. The local shops are always out of .45acp bullets. I have found a website with a few different brands such as montana gold in stock.
firstclassbulletsandbrass.com
by the way, my normal load is:
berrys mfg 230gr copper jacketed round nose
5gr red dot powder
cci large pistol primers
1.19" oal
910fps

Berrys mfg was charging $70 for 500 count 230grain. Their not taking orders anymore. this other place (firstclassbulletsandbrass.com) has them for $78 for 500 count 230grain.

I was just reading the "Catastrophic Failure" thread, and this brings up a question for me:
How many times do you guys reload the same brass? To be honest, I've never kept a count of that, but I don't shoot or reload all that much per year.

.45acp brass can be reloaded 50 times or more. Of course you would want to keep checking them visually and with calipers and a gauge. The catastrophic failure thread looks like a hot charge of powder. I use a trickle charger to load each round with red dot powder, which 5 grains pretty much fills up the cartrige.

Oh yeah, I do inspect them after they've been polished.
Do you use much of a crimp? I use a little, but I don't crank it down too hard. It's kind of hard to describe "how much" I set, ya know?

I have my .45 acp dies set up to taper the shells to remove any flaring that would prevent the round from chambering. If you have calipers your looing for a 0.469-0.471 measurement at the case mouth.

Friend of mine has been using the same brass since the 80's. 45acp last a long time.
