KRISS Baggage
I was looking for something to take the Vector to the range with that would be on the "discreet" side. While KRISS USA had a 32" soft case "KRISS Super V Covert Carry Case" (made in the USA for them by Tactical Tailor), it was a bit on the pricey side at $150, and had limited versatility inside (2 Velcro straps). With the blazing red letters on the outside of the bag telling what was inside of it, it failed just a bit on the "covert" test.
And apparently also offered the same case with white lettering...
The bag at 32" is designed to hold the Vector with the stock folded. Between that and the external storage pouch, it makes for a thick package:
It turns out that the folks at AR15.com had their own discreet case in the works, the "ARFCOM Covert Takedown Softcase". I was able to get in on their "factory seconds" (limited first run "test" batch) a while back. They have since made some minor changes to the case (more MOLLE loops; larger logo on the subtle black patch, etc.) now that it is in production. The case is only 26" x 12" x4" and not designed to hold a folder. So... why not stow a Vector carbine in pieces? (A SBR/SDP/SMG would be even better.)
I'm still trying to come up with an economical "hood" solution to protect the important bits of the lower... and also keep the inside of the bag free of slider lube. 3D printing sounds expensive; Solscud007 had a suggestion for a custom Kydex piece. As you can see in the 2nd pic, space is limited.
The current ARFCOM case is available here:
http://store.ar15.com/product.html?cat=24&pr=572
While it is a little disappointing that it is not made in the USA, at $60 + shipping ($10 each case), it is hard to pass up if it fits your needs.

The Hard Way
Finally (Aug 2012) updating this placeholder for the econo hard case...
This deal is loooong gone, but it was the Plano Gun Guard "AW" (all weather) Series 36-inch case that retails for over a $100... Walmart had them for $40 after Thanksgiving 2011, with some folks commenting online that they got 'em for $30 on "Black Friday" from Walmart too. I saw a pile of them at my local store then went back and the shelves were bare. (Sigh.... hindsight.)
It's certainly no Pelican/Storm case... but for the cost it would have worked nicely, especially with the pre-cut foam cube insert.
Model 1083-60 in the "Hard Sided Gun Cases" Category:

(Caution: loud music at intro by this guy)

Another OEM Bag
Looks like KRISS USA has changed suppliers from Tactical Tailor over to BlackHawk for their "Covert Case"... and by covert they mean branding the outside of the case with the red KRISS logo. I sure hope this bag comes with more MOLLE straps than two.
Really long URL to the "new" KRISS USA store.
Or you could always just shop BlackHawk directly, especially if you would prefer it in Coyote Tan (like Solscud007):

Re: KRISS Baggage
I finally got around to take some crappy pics of my KRISS SUPER V case.
This is what my KRISS Vector carbine came in when I bought it in spring 2010.
As you can see from the pictures, this thing is HUGE. I have no idea what KRISS ARMS was thinking when they had this case made. I mean they had to order it with a special mold to get it to say KRISS SUPER V SYSTEM. Im guessing it is purely a money thing. Maybe it was the cheapest case for what they needed it to do.
A clearer pic of the wording on my case

Re: KRISS Baggage
mines in the new case, its a flimsy pos, its still at shop but i have my delta point mounted 2 30 rd mags, 13 rd mag, some papers in a platic bag, cleaning kit it came with, thing barely shuts, sbr.
you can see there is hardly any room for optics on kriss in the case, its almost purely for shipping. i'll be down there tomorrow for outside pic but i dont recall it even saying kriss on it.

Yep. The new cases don't even have printing on it, have only two latches, and the case really doesn't mate up when you close it.

Mine is exactly like this one. Very crappy. No name on the outside, doesn't close correctly, very thin and flexible, and it didn't allow for optics. For storage I have to disassemble the upper from the lower or remove the EXPS2 and the 5X magnifier. Must a crappy pos.
I'm using a AR15 scabbard seating between my bed and the bedside table until I get something better.

Re: KRISS Baggage
What if you flip the Kriss upside down? So the eotech goes into the space between the handle and latch?

Not enough space due to the 5X magnifier

Re: KRISS Baggage
For the SDP, the 5.11 select carry sling pack is a dream. Like it was made for it. The pistol fit superbly with 30 rd mag attached, and with optics. I especially like that a clasp accommodates the QD sling pin, such that the pistol is stabilized inside the bag. Will edit to attach pic.

Looks like the same one. I got it from my local gunships and it didn't have any tags. Now I'm looking for smg magazine miller pouches to attach then to the sides.

Re: KRISS Baggage
I was looking at MP5 mag pouches but now that I see the ones that you posted, they are longer and should fit better. Not so sure that the ones that I saw will work with the 30 rounds mags.

I have these for my airsoft P90. They work for the KRISS.

Re: KRISS Baggage
I think that's the real reason. Just like the pistol "Tupperware" boxes for Glock, HK, Beretta, S&W, etc., etc. It's just a basic plastic case to get the item to you undamaged (as it gets shipped and inventoried along the way) and usually with the utmost minimum means to "secure" it (simple hole for a lock of some kind). Wrap the plastic case in this cardboard sleeve and send it to the dealer shelf:Solscud007 wrote:...Maybe it was the cheapest case for what they needed it to do.
It's all about the minimums here. It's up to us to put it into something fit for the task after that. If you think the current plastic case is cheap crap, remember the "giant pizza box" (19 x 41 x 5) they used to come in...
(Although I have the pizza box, the shots above are not my gear; Images taken from the web as samples.)

Re: KRISS Baggage
Oooh I like the pizza box. I would use the cut foam and find a pelican case to put that in.

Where's the rest of the foam?!?Solscud007 wrote:I got the Plano Gun Guard All Weather case that Mambro posted.
