Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
Has anybody tried the PNW Arms KRISS .45 ACP ammo? Supposedly, it is optimized for the KRISS, any opinions or reviews? Not exactly sure how it could be "optimized" for the gun...

Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
It is all marketing. I was told that Winchester White Box is no longer approved. But did they make a mention of that on the website? no.
Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
I think it's marketing with shades of simple truth. The KRISS Vector is known to perform best when run CLEAN. So, when I think of ammo that has been dropped from the KRISS USA list, it tends to be because it is "dirtier" than other brands. The PNW Arms KRISS ammo is marketed to the Vector user because it is (supposedly) formulated/built/tuned to run "cleaner" perhaps than others.

Disclaimer: I've never used it, don't intend on using it, but it IS on the KRISS USA "Compatible Ammo" list:The KRISS works best with fast burning ultra clean powder to prevent the blowback action from inhaling unburnt powder. We have tuned this ammunition to be ultra clean & fast burning, to perform optimally in the KRISS Super-V.

Oh, I'm positive it's all marketing. That's not why I'm interested in it. The ammo caught my interest because you can get 500 rounds that should cycle the gun consistently for $228.65.

Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
$45.73 for 100rds is a bit more expensive than the $35 per 100 WWB (Winchester White Box) that I get at Walmart.
Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
pfft i pay $225 on a good day for 500 rounds, just consider yourself lucky if you pay less

exactly. If you're paying less you got one hell of sale, or are using crap ammo. I haven't seen prices like that in Texas/Oklahoma in a long time.

Hello KRISS TALK!
We just found this forum the other day and have signed up to help answer questions about our product offerings specific to the KRISS platform. In this day and age we can understand the skepticism of product claims, especially from relatively new manufacturers. To prove some of our claims we have uploaded a presentation that was prepared for KRISS USA Feb 2011. As a new member we are restricted from posting URLs for seven (7) days. Until then you can view the presentation at FLICKR and searching for KRISS_SLIDE.
Our engineering team spent over eight (8) months developing a round that would work the action, produce great ballistic performance, and allow the weapon to function for thousands of rounds without major failures. This was no small feat due to the design of the revolutionary KRISS action.
Please take time to review the photos if you have a moment and expect us to post a new topic next week that links to all the images with explainations. If you have any immediate quetions let us know.
Thank you for your time and we at PNW Arms look forward to earning your business!
Very Respectfully,
-PNW Arms Sales Team

Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
I am interested to know more details about the FTE. Did you record what type of FTE it was? was it a FTF and then FTE? or an empty shell that failed to extract? Was the brass stuck in the chamber? More details would be great on the specifics of the FTE.
Also what version of the KRISS vector was used in these tests? Was it the SBR as seen in the Kriss_slide_8 picture? Or were you using the Carbine? Im interested to know how this round works in the carbine, as I am a carbine owner and living in NY state it is unlikely that I will get my hands on a SBR anytime soon.
How well does this round burn in a short barrel vs longer barrel? Some reports from KRISS USA was that Winchester white box rounds have caused some squibs. I take a gamble with my KRISS by using it but so far so good.
Was the same vector used in all three tests?

Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
This testing protocol used the same KRISS SBR across all ammunition manufacturers. Our ammunition has also been extensively tested with the CRB manu. date of April 2010 and June 2011 since this round was designed for commercial sales and few people have access to an SBR.
My personal KRISS is the CRB as well due to WA state restrictions on SBR ownership. I have about 6000 rounds through it without issue.
If you search FLICKR for PNW Arms, click on an image that looks like a KRISS and then Click the PNW Arms photobucket you will see an extensive amount of photography detailing the results. The majority of the Failures To Eject (FTE) were due to spent brass getting stuck as the action pushed forward. Plenty of pictures that show this.

Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
Can the PNW 45 acp be used in other guns? Or should it only be used for the KRISS Vector?
Re: Anybody try PNW Arms ammo?
This ammunition should only be used in a KRISS platform. It will not perform well in anything else chambered for .45 ACP. The downside of custom tuned ammunition.
