Re: KRISS Vector Lights
No there isn't a part number. Yes you need a UE tail cap. The 07 is the length of the tape switch.
That is all you need for the e1b

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
I did this mod recently thanks to this thread! I ended up saving a lot of money sourcing the pieces separately from different online retailers. I upgraded my remote switch with the money saved to the Surefire SR07 which takes a little modification to work...but it's well worth it!
Here's what I spent for my kit...you will spend less if you don't do the upgraded remote switch and rail kit:
B&H:
- Surefire E1B Light $112
- Surefire UE07 Tailcap $70
- Surefire SR07 Switch $56
KRISS Website:
- Surefire Adaptor $35
- Rail Kit $ 27

Nice. That was my most recent setup. But since I am using it for USPSA competition I removed it for weight.
Re: KRISS Vector Lights
Thanks guys! Here's a pic of the parts needed for everyone's reference:

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
Where did you get the SR07 for $56? When I ordered mine it was $80 but I had a $40 gift certificate so it cost me just $40.

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
Ooh nice. Much cheaper than Optics Planet. I hate them. Gearhog had a $40 gift cert for sale for $20. I order the SR07 tape switch but didnt notice the convoluted drop down menu. So I end up with a SR02. The wire is 2 inches long!!!!
So I call them and ask to exchange for SR07. I mail it back on my dime. Then they call me and say that I owe them $40!!!
Because I used a gift cert and paid the difference of $40 to get the SR02, I need to pay the remaining $40 for the SR07!!! I kept going back and forth how they are ripping me off. They gave me some BS that the Gift cert is no longer valid and the SR02 only gives me a $40 credit.
I was so pissed. I then said fuck it give me back my SR02. Sorry you need to pay $40 to get it back.We credited you $40 and to get it back you need to pay the difference of $40!!!! I was so pissed off I wanted to shoot someone.
Well after some serious ass chewing it got resolved. NEVER buy anything from them.

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
Man, that sounds crazy! Sorry to hear that happened. ...I found B&H and Primary Arms to be the cheapest places to purchase any Surefire product. They are great to deal with and fast on shipping!

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
You should check out CPFmarketplace.com it is the Buy/sell/trade forum for Candlepower Forums. Best place to get Surefires.
SR07 - how'd you do it?

Hi Wendell,
Can you expound on how you accomplished the mod to accommodate the SR07 switch? Looks fantastic!
Thanks

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
Solscud007 has done this mod also and I believe it is just some time and patience with a Dremel to open up the slot in the upper housing just enough to feed the metal connector through.Klickboom wrote:dj_dub wrote:...Surefire SR07 Switch

...then attach it to the back of the E1B as it is inserted from the front of the upper housing.

No problem...the SR07 switch works directly in place of the provided switch that comes with the UE07 tailcap. The only modification you'll need to do is cut the hole where you'll need to slide the wire through on the body of the KRISS...as you can see in that pic I posted. I used a Dremel with a skinny sand grinder and cut it just enough to pass the end of the metal connector through. After I made the cut, I cleaned it up as much as possible with a file to make it look factory. Just takes a little patience and a calm steady hand. Good luck!

Very cool! Thanks for the insights gents! Now to my dremel, and will start looking for the "courage" to start DIYing on this SDP!

You dremel people. haha I use hand tools. A stepped drill bit and a screwdriver handle that accepts hex shafts.
if you look at the picture at the very top, next to KRISSTALK you can see me and my KRISS. It has the SR07 on it.

It was dj_dub's list that inspired me... So thanks to both of you! I just placed my orders. I'm a dremel guy too so hopefully I'll be able to do this modification correctly.

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
I have purchased all the items for this project and received.
I have a couple questions, before I pry too hard, does the little cap that covers the hole for the light just pry off. Also is the roll pin on the Kriss plastic sleeve used to lock the light into the sleeve or the sleeve into the firearm?
I'm just not as smart as I look...
Thanks,
Greg

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
No on the prying and roll pin. Unfortunately, it looks like the "new" Owner's Manual doesn't get into any of this info anymore. Here's part of a description from a previous version:tangomike3 wrote:...does the little cap that covers the hole for the light just pry off. What is also not spelled out is that there is a set screw BENEATH the front sight on the rail. The roll pin is used in holding the rail to the upper. There is a second set screw that is on the "outer ring" of the SureFire adapter that holds the light into the adapter. (The set screw under the front sight reaches through the adapter and makes contact with the light body as well.)Light Receptacle Cover: Prevents dirt from entering the pre-molded receptacle for the Surefire Executive Series lights. 1.5mm Allen key removes and tightens the retaining set screw. Upper housing must be separated before removing or installing the cover.
Here is a extra large scan of a very old instruction sheet from the "TDI" days (the original is crooked too):

KRISS Vector Lighting Options
I am looking for light options that can fit in the upper housing other than the Surefire E1B.
one option i was looking at is the Streamlight TL-2X. It is only $78 on Midway USA. The only thing is the Bezel is 1.25" where the Surefire is 1". I am not sure if this will fit over the barrel shroud. the TL-2X also has a 200 lumen LED. this light is about an inch longer but i dont think that would look bad oin the CRB.
The Streamlight Remote Switch #88185 on Midwest is only $41.
If this set up will work the total cost would be under $160 with the Kriss adapter (before shiping).
any thought would be greatly appreaciated....

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
i havent wanted to spend that money on the e1b either but i dont think other lights fit, problem one is the adapter attaching correctly to other lights securely, then the light diameter, then the length.
if you got the adapter you could probably take to stores and try to fit it knowing the depth of the kriss slot, maybe find a diff one.
i posted best prices i could find, once in awhile i'll search for e1b, havent ever found it on sale, (if it does say sale it's still more than what i posted).

Re: KRISS Vector Lights
The adapter is designed around the 1x cell Surefire lights. You could use a E1L
Re: KRISS Vector Lights
I went cheap on this with the TLR-1. It throws a slight shadow to the left of the barrel but still enough light to see, not to keen on the pressure switches, sometimes they may come on when you don't want them to. With it on the side rail and the position I put it, it can be flash or constant on, using just the tip of my finger.
Light is 160 lumens, battery life 2.5 hrs, 2 CR123's. @ $100.00 for the light and made the rail out of some old parts. The light does come with 4 different type rail adapters and is very secure and small enough to use on most full size railed pistols so you can move it around as the mood moves you.
