Is the Shroud even needed on the CRB?
I'm going to install a free float hand guard on my CRB and was wondering if the shroud is even needed? Does it effect the bullet's trajectory? Or do I just have to take it to the range, shroud removed, shoot a few rounds and see what happens?
I'm either going with a Seekins Rail:
Or a Daniel Defense Lite Rail:

Will those fit? Are you going to get them fitted?

Kopyking, when you finish this, would like to see the finished product and how you attached it to the Kriss, looks interesting.

No you dont need the shroud. I went with a 15 inch MI Gen 1 SS free float.
removing the shroud will change your zero so re-zero your sights.

So I ordered a Diamondhead V-RS Handguard should be here any day now.

Sorry it's been taking me some time on posting back. Been really busy with work and the family. The 10.5" V-RS is just long enough. With the handguard mounted I can forget about adding a Cadet light in the stock socket. I'll just have mount it to the guard instead. I only had time for some phone pics, but can post more detailed pics later.
Enjoy...

Yes, more details please. It looks like the side rails are connected to each other and the hand guard mounts to the side rail assembly?
Re: Is the Shroud even needed on the CRB?
So reviving a old thread. The diamondhead setup only lasted two range trips cause the mount I was using was made from aluminum and bent and then broke off after the second trip. So I took the plunge and hacked up my Seekins Precision handguard and lookie how it turned out.
With the Shroud on....
PRETTY AWESOME!!! and it's so solid I could definitely depend on it. I basically removed 3" from the upper handgaurd with my Dremel, aligned the rail, used the side picatinny KRISS rail as a guide to drill new holes on the handguard, went out and bought four longer screws and fender washers and there you have it. The washers did bother me at first but once I clean up the handguard, smooth the edges and repaint it black, it should look great. And to top it off I can still use the original shroud with the Seekins if I wanted to.
If anyone wants closer pics just let me know I'll take them...

Bluonyx, where did you get the piece to convert your Kriss to the M4 positional stock?

The adapter I picked up is from Numonster.com
I liked his the best cause it places the stock straight back like an traditional AR and not angled down like the others.

So I'm thinking about doing this, does the adapter pinch your wrist during recoil? Looks like it may be a little painful.

So after going to the range and going through 200rds, I did manage to rub and cut my finger on the buffer tube end plate twice, it was kind of annoying. Took a nice chunk from the top of my thumb knuckle. I did choose this particular tube, I might have to look into something different. (circled in red)
